"Orphan Songs." by Bill Mallonee & The Big Sky Ramblers
Back-story?
As usually happens when we make a record, like "Forest Full of Wolves," there's always quite a few songs that become "orphan songs;"
They get written, embellished and tracked;
But they just get "left out." It's not a question of being a bad dad.
And it's certainly NOT because they aren't lovable, precious little things.
Here's the thing: These songs are true country folk-rock. And being imbued with a certain dust bowl era, salt of the earth quality, it was hard to place them in the same room with the "resist songs" of "Forest Full of Wolves."
There was no place for them in the nursery of the conceptual.

Of course such "Orphan Songs" being resilient & full of piss & venom, just made it around to the back-door and demanded admission.
And so it goes THAT's what you're hearing here.
These 'kids?" Swaggering little imps.
And yes, they among my very, very favorites...
