I've grown a bit weary over the years of fear and institutional coercion being a governing dynamic in "spirituality."
Truth be told? Most of my life, I've felt "cursed," "cast-off," "apostate," Beyond hope. (No wonder I write, eh?)

I'm no theologian. I have no "authority."
But, my 2 cents?
In the end, it's about whole-ness; growing up into that "image of God" he/she intended for you to be because of His/Her love for you. And yes, as a Christian who believes in the near-ness of Christ, I believe that all such growth comes via His mercy & Grace.

And, more recently, I suspect everyone is included. Heretical? Possibly, although i think I stand in good company.
Let's face it: the most "damming" heresy is hatred.
It's good to examine what produces it.
I strongly suspect that fear and punishment produce little to nothing of lasting benefit in our spirits. I am, on the other hand, absolutely convinced, that fear-and-dread-driven spiritualities produce everything from sad, mis-shapen personalities to neurosis, even madness.

You don't have to agree. God bless your journey.

Who cares what i think? To each his own...
All I can say is that I've had a steady "diet" of the above-mentioned dynamic masquerading as religion for much of my life.
So, this song is a bit of a "push-back" against all that would assert itself against Grace and the love of God. ~ bill
